{"id":1485,"date":"2019-01-14T19:14:36","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T00:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hsumc.net\/?page_id=1485"},"modified":"2019-01-14T19:14:36","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T00:14:36","slug":"mission-core-values","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hsumc.net\/Home\/mission-core-values\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission &#038; Core Values"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<h4><strong><u>HSUMC Mission Statement (why we exist)<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The mission of HSUMC is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the\u00a0world.\u00a0 This is based on the &#8220;Great Commission&#8221; found in Matthew 28:19-20 and the &#8220;Great Commandment&#8221; found in Matthew 22:37, 39.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>Core Values (how we behave)<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<strong>Christ Centered<\/strong>&#8211; Jesus is at the heart of everything we do and how we<br \/>\ndo it.\n<strong>Prayer Focused<\/strong>&#8211; Prayer is essential in establishing and continuing our<br \/>\nrelationship with God.\n<strong>Welcoming &amp; Nurturing<\/strong>&#8211; Our identity is being a warm, friendly, loving<br \/>\nand caring community within our congregation and to all people.\n<strong>Biblically Grounded<\/strong>&#8211; Scripture transforms us to grow in our faith and<br \/>\nknowledge of Christ.\n<strong>Faith for Life<\/strong>&#8211; Spiritual growth (Discipleship) is a lifelong journey for<br \/>\neveryone that begins as we teach and model faith to our children.\n<strong>Service Driven<\/strong>&#8211; The Gospel is meant to be lived through an active and<br \/>\ngenerous faith that builds relationships with everyone we serve, and<br \/>\nwith each other, as we share the good news of Jesus Christ to our<br \/>\ncommunity, nation and world.\n<strong><u>Vision (Where we are headed)- Belong, Grow, Serve<\/u><\/strong>\n\nAt HSUMC, we believe relationships matter! Our<br \/>\nrelationship with Jesus Christ our Lord. Our relationship<br \/>\nwith each other as a community of faith. Our relationship<br \/>\nthat begins with our hurting community and extends to<br \/>\nthe broken world. And, through growing these<br \/>\nrelationships, God fills our hearts with His love. You are<br \/>\ninvited to worship and serve at HSUMC where we have<br \/>\nbeen offering a relationship with Jesus Christ for 158<br \/>\nyears.
